USD graduates
The 34th winter commencement ceremony at USD, Vermillion was held Dec. 19. Area graduates included Christopher vander Linden, bachelor of science, criminal justice and Jacob Breske, bachelor of science, psychology, both from webster.
Receives award
Webster High School junior Marcus Mahlen has been selected to receive the Larry Syhre "Cool to Care Award" for the first semester. Sponsored by the Larry Syhre Foundation, the award recognizes high school students who demonstrate caring toward other individuals. Students are nominated by school staff or peers and judged by an out-of-town committee. Marcus is an honor student and active in a number of school and community activities. He is the son of Don and Becky Mahlen.
Scholarship awarded
Elizabeth Earl, Webster was awarded the vucurevich Presidential scholarship for the 2010-11 school year at SDSU, Brookings. Earl is a junior active in State University Theatre, Prairie Repertory Theatre and tae kwon do. She is the daughter of Martin Earl and Tammie Bludorn, Webster and is a 2008 graduate of Webster High School.
