Pop tab war

Webster Key Club pop tab war for Webster Area School students runs until Dec. 17. Tabs from pop cans, pet foods, etc. may be brought to elementary, middle and high school homerooms. Tabs will be weighed with each school’s heaviest collection winning a root beer float party. Proceeds go to Ronald McDonald House.

Letters to Santa

Kids may drop off their letters to Santa at Dacotah Bank, Webster by Dec. 17 to be delivered to the North Pole. Santa will try to write back by Christmas Eve. No postage is necessary, but include your return address on your envelope.

Christmas dinner

Webster American Legion Post 40 members and spouses Christmas dinner is Dec. 16, 6 p.m. RSVP by calling the Legion, 345-3416 by Dec. 13.

Live nativity

Bergen Lutheran Church Live Nativity is Dec. 21, 7 p.m. at the Clint Brandlee farm north of H.O.T. Spot, Bristol six miles and 1.25 miles west.

Frosty’s Giveaway

Webster Area Chamber and businesses Frosty’s Giveaway runs now through Dec. 17. Participating businesses will give you a Frosty Card with your purchase. Cards may be dropped off at a Webster bank for a chance to win a basket displayed at the banks. Drawing is Dec. 18, 11 a.m. at the VFW clubroom. Kids’ movie will also be shown Dec. 18.

Walk in Bethlehem

Walk through Bethlehem is Dec. 5, noon-4 p.m. at United Methodist Church, Webster.

Auxiliary meeting

Webster American Legion Auxiliary meets Dec. 7, 5 p.m. for potluck and meeting.

Spirit of Christmas

Spirit of Christmas tree, sponsored by Webster Community Club, Dacotah Bank, CorTrust Bank and Great Western Bank, Webster is available now. Anyone wishing to spread the Christmas spirit to a child less fortunate may pick up a tag from one of the banks, purchase a gift and return it wrapped with the tag attached, to the bank by Dec. 16.

Council meeting

Webster City Council meets Dec. 6, 6:30 p.m. in the City Hall council room. Agenda includes public appointments and hearings at 6:55 – appeal abatement of Nov. 16, 7:05 – hearing to lease hay land at lagoon, advertise for bids, 7:10 – public hearing for water/wastewater applications, 7:30 – hearing and first reading Ordinance #534 Redistricting Wards, 7:40 – Nathan Edwards, weather station at airport; business items including liquor license renewals, set hearing for transfer liquor license, health insurance rates, renew armory lease, Small Community Planning Grant, set holiday close dates, salary resolution, NE Council of Governments joint cooperative agreement, SD Community Foundation grants for Diamond and WALT (Hanse funds), Cares Act airport grant, first reading supplemental ordinance #535, DANR water/wastewater/storm water improvements: state water plan and executive session if needed.
